Within the global strategy for the next ten years AVEBE has chosen for renewal of the technology, differentiation/diversification in raw materials and the creation of new functionalities.
However, new functions and new products do not come out of the blue. Only the continuous exchange of information, insights and ideas in confrontation with external information is creating this “direction for innovation'. More and more technology joint ventures are pursued to with companies in the form of incubators using the principle of Open Innovation. This ensures collaborations for rapid and effective innovation.
Co-operation with research institutes will enhance the translation of theoretical information as created on universities into conceptual strategies; AVEBE will use this for the development of applications.
In fundamental and conceptual research AVEBE is working together with several universities and institutes in the Netherlands and abroad. Traditionally good co-operation exists with different departments on the Wageningen University and Research Centre, the University of Groningen and different departments of TNO.
A new initiative is currently being taken by AVEBE and leading Dutch food & pharma industries to found the Carbohydrate Competence Centre in Groningen. This centre will bring together all Dutch carbohydrate expertise from universities, institutes and industry and will explore new concepts. This ranges from technology for processing crops to processing and engineering of carbohydrate based products.
