Solanic, an AVEBE GROUP company, is proud to announce that its Solanic Potato Protein range has been nominated for the “Food Valley Award 2008”.
Food Valley is a region in the Netherlands where international food companies, research institutes and Wageningen University and Research Centre are concentrated. Within Food Valley about 15,000 professionals are active in food related science and technology development. Far more are involved in the manufacturing of food products. Food Valley, with the city of Wageningen as its center, forms the dynamic heart of knowledge of the international food industry.
The foundation Food Valley annually rewards the most distinguishing project or initiative on a food (related) area with the Food Valley Award. The winner of the price distinguishes himself in the field for innovation, cooperation and socially responsible business practice.
Solanic produces and markets new high performance potato protein fractions as ingredients for consumer food and beverage products. Uniquely, no other market player has the ability to supply high quality potato proteins. Solanic has developed a complete range of functional potato protein based technologies that offer a broad range of innovative ingredient solutions and opportunities for the food and beverage industry.
Exclusively Solanic offers a variety of protein fractions extracted from non-GM potatoes, each with its own distinctive functionality and hence specific application area. The fractions differ in heat stability, iso-electric points, molecular weight, and lipophylic properties. Hence, it is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’ proposition: depending on manufacturers’ applications Solanic can offer exactly the right fraction for each application.
Unique functional properties such as solubility, foaming, gelation, emulsification or combinations of these, will allow manufacturers to create new products enhancing their competitive advantage by providing new solutions to address consumer trends such as: natural, health and wellbeing, and convenience – besides operational savings.
Furthermore the potato protein is non GM and non allergenic.
The winner of the Food Valley Award 2008 will be announced during the Food Valley Conference on Tuesday 7 October 2008.
